Merit-based Fully Funded Deadline: Jan 28, 2026

About the Scholarship

The Government of Belgium Scholarship, offered through ARES (Academy of Research and Higher Education), is a fully funded program to support international students from developing countries pursuing master’s or short-term training programs at Belgian universities. Covering tuition, a monthly living allowance (approximately €1,150), travel expenses, health insurance, and visa costs, the scholarship focuses on fields critical to global development, such as public health, sustainable agriculture, environmental management, and education. Hosted by leading Belgian institutions, such as KU Leuven and Université de Liège, the program provides access to high-quality education, advanced research facilities, and a multicultural academic environment, fostering professional skills and cross-cultural collaboration.

The ARES scholarship aims to build capacity in partner countries, empowering professionals to address challenges like poverty, climate change, and healthcare access upon their return. Scholars benefit from Belgium’s central location in Europe, offering opportunities for networking, internships, and exposure to international organizations like the EU and NATO. The program includes language support (French, Dutch, or English, depending on the course) and cultural integration activities, ensuring a well-rounded experience. By supporting talented individuals from developing nations, the Government of Belgium Scholarship promotes sustainable development and strengthens global partnerships, making it an ideal opportunity for professionals seeking to make a lasting impact.
